Overview

COEP’s Bhau Institute is dedicated to make way for the growth of young entrepreneurs and creation of startup companies, to further the goal of economically viable, socially acceptable, and ecologically sustainable development of India.

This Startup Incubation Centre will realize this mission by providing startup companies access to innovation labs, co-working spaces, shared services, training programs, events, mentors, co-founders, investors, and other business incubation services that will move these startups onto the fast track to success and act as an impetus towards entrepreneurship development.

Bhau’s focus is to develop successful entrepreneurs in grassroots innovations, who will be able to create a larger social impact and also in the areas of Healthcare technologies, Cyber Security and loT.

Grassroots innovation

Grassroots Innovations refers to the framework of endogenous, unaided innovations by common people at community level [farmers, artisans, pastoralists, workers, and others] without any experience of working in organized sector or assistance from the formal sector. Since these individuals and/or communities have to face high transaction costs, use much less external materials, most of the innovations they develop invariably happen to be frugal.

Healthcare Technologies

The healthcare industry is experiencing a steady and stable transformation the world over, majorly with Information Technology (IT) playing a core role in every aspect of the healthcare value chain. IT is increasingly penetrating the healthcare service delivery in India as well, driven by the need to reduce costs, improve efficiency, create interoperability between existing fragmented hospital systems, and increase health awareness among citizens.

Internet Of Things

IoT has become the focal point of research and innovation as the next frontier to generate economic growth. Societal development requires not only effective and extensive utilization of technologies but also requires that technologies operating on different platforms integrate across various platforms to deliver the maximum impact for the least cost in the shortest time.

Cyber Security

The Cyber Security area is ripe for significant innovation because internet penetration in India has shown rapid progress. While rapidly escalating internet growth has opened up multiple opportunities for India’s citizens, it has simultaneously given rise to the very real threat of cybercrime. Investment in IT security systems is considerably low. It has been observed that most business organizations lack even basic IT security systems in India. A report by industry experts reveals that nearly 80 percent of Indian business enterprises have reported data theft through online hacking.

Renewable Energy

According to “Annual Report 2020-21” published by Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Govt of India, India has achieved tremendous milestones and well on its way to achieve the targets as determined. During the period from 2014 to 2021, the installed RE capacity has increased by two-and-half times, and in the same period, the installed solar energy capacity has increased 15 times. Globally, today India stands 4th in RE power capacity, 4th in Wind power, and 5th in Solar Power capacity. India has one of the highest rates of growth for renewable energy in the world. As per Global Trends in Renewable Energy Investment 2020 report, during the period 2014-2019, renewable energy programmes and projects in India attracted an investment of US$ 64.2 billion (Rs 4.7 lakh crore).

EV & Smart Mobility

The concept of smart mobility emerged with the popularity of smart cities and is aligned with the sustainable development goals defined by the United Nations till 2030. A reduction in traffic congestion and new route optimizations with reduced ecological footprint are some of the essential factors of smart mobility; however, other aspects must also be taken into account, such as the promotion of active mobility and inclusive mobility, encouraging the use of other types of environmentally friendly fuels and engagement with citizens.
