Currently serving as the Vice Chancellor of COEP Technological University, Pune, he has held pivotal positions, including:

• Registrar (Additional Charge), University of Mumbai
• Head of the CE&IT Department, VJTI, Mumbai
• Advisor-I, AICTE, New Delhi (Head of e-Governance, Legal, and CVO)

Dr. Bhirud’s expertise spans Image Processing, Data Mining, and Machine Learning. He has significantly contributed to curriculum design and delivery, mentoring aspiring institutions and fostering innovation in education.

Major Contributions and Initiatives

• E-Governance and Digital Transformation: At AICTE, Dr. Bhirud spearheaded the implementation of comprehensive e-governance, ensuring transparency, accountability, and efficient online approval processes for over 10,000 institutes nationwide.
• ICT Policy Development: Played a key role in the computerization and ICT policy framework of the University of Mumbai.
